Brandywine hosted the Potomac Athletic Club Saturday looking to hone team strategy before entering MARFU playoffs. PAC would score early in the first half on a penalty conversion, but then would be shut out until late in the second half.
Matt Stauffer opened scoring for Brandywine after the BRFC scrum stole a PAC put in, allowing Matt to pick the ball and trounce the PAC tacklers on his way to the score. Stauffer would again score when Nick Wood secured a loose ball, popping it to Steve McCusker who would off load to Matt allowing him to run for the try line with tacklers dangling from his ankles. Matt would score for the third time near the end of the half. Dave Bardwell made all three of his conversion attempts, giving Brandywine a 21-3 advantage.
Brandywine would open the second half quickly scoring early from a mauled line out that BRFC drove 15 meters. PAC would not go down easily, and was able to scoop up a miss-played ball by Brandywine to score a try and successful conversion.
Looking to seal the victory, Brandywine forwards Andy Newcombe and Tim Wertz capped the day off with a try a piece, while Dave Bardwell was successful on two of three conversion attempts to give Brandywine the 40-10 win.
