Captain Nate Starr Leads Bs Over Lancaster B & Undefeated Season :

The Brandywine B side was looking to continue their winning streak against a tough Lancaster team. The return of Tim Sheridan was an added bonus to the team.

Tim Sheridan snuck a drop kick through the posts to give BRFC a 3-0 lead to start the match. The versatile Brian Dunbar would score the first try of the match adding five points to the score for Brandywine. Another BRFC try pushed Lancaster deeper into a hole in what was looking to be a shut out win. Paul Black, who has started most of the season for the A side, scored his first try ever as he sprinted down the sideline, dodging one tackler, and gracefully diving into the try zone for Brandywine’s third try of the match.

Like their A side, the Lancaster B’s continued to claw their way back in the game with hard hitting and smart play. Before the final whistle, Lancaster would score two trys with successful conversions to make the score 18-14. Having the game that close was enough to wake up Brandywine as they made sure any come back attempt was for naught. The ageless Dave Sawhill rallied the troops and led by example laying Lancaster players out with thunderous tackles. The cagey Rob Sanderson stepped in at fly half and distributed great ball to the backs, allowing them to open up the field.

Lancaster’s come back was indeed foiled as Brandywine earned the 18-14 victory. Thank you to Rob Sanderson, Tim Sheridan, Dave Sawhill, Scott Finaly, and Joe Doc for stepping in and playing inspired rugby with the B side. Congratulations to B side captain Nate Starr on his team’s undefeated season!
